This module is designed to introduce you to the world of onsite renewable energy production and the options that exist for LEED projects to address the built environment’s role in combatting global warming concerns based on historic electricity production levels. Participants will be offered an overview of the renewable energy production credits in the LEED BD+C, O+M, and ID+C rating systems and introduced to a project case study highlighting achievements incorporating renewable energy on site. Key terminology like net metering, distributed generation, and power purchase agreements are carefully reviewed for understanding. Finally, individuals will learn about eligible renewable energy system types and financing options available to help ensure success on LEED projects.
